Materials Scientist - Competitive salary + pension + 25 days holiday - Eire (Permanent)
RD Recruitment (Rugby) Ltd is presently working on behalf of a highly regarded engineering business. Located in Eire, our client is recruiting for a Materials Scientist to join their site on a permanent basis.
Working closely with the Laboratory function, the Materials Scientist will be responsible for developing test and measurement techniques to analyse materials and to perform physical testing on products, including Rockwell hardness, Metal microstructures and macrostructure, Hydrogen analysis and chemical analysis. The Materials Scientist will co-ordinate the activities of the Lab Operator, will co-ordinate testing requirements and will control certificate of conformance requirements and will oversee calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
As Materials Scientist, you'll host yearly audits of area and address corrective actions raised in relation to laboratory compliance to ISO17025 and Aerospace laboratory specifications (NADCAP: aerospace certification) and will oversee daily laboratory operation including ordering of consumables, archiving of documents and laboratory adherence to safety guidelines. You\'ll coordinate the calibration of all non-metrology items (thermocouples, ovens, pressure gauges, etc) and will operate and maintain calibration software and record keeping system.
The Materials Scientist will be responsible for the Chemical Processing Area (acid etch baths, alkaline cleaning baths etc)
and will lead NADCAP compliance within this area, too. You\'ll train chemical processing operators in Chemical Processing
and will also handle Metal Heat treatment (hardening, stress relief etc.) and Forging areas
Asides from the above responsibilities, the Materials Scientist will manage the site process specification list and will create and revise laboratory procedures in accordance with relevant Aerospace and ASTM specifications and you\'ll also create and revise procedures for chemical processing and calibration procedures in accordance with relevant our client\'s specifications.
Applicants will have a degree in materials science/metallurgy and will ideally have experience of working in a laboratory. Ideally, you will possess working knowledge of ISO90001, ISO 17025 or AS9100 and will preferably possess experience of heat treatment, calibration or chemical cleaning.
You\'ll be a self-motivated person will excellent communication skills, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
